Purl Bar is a speakeasy bar with all the mod cons! Their drinks satisfy more than just your taste buds as they use different aromas, fogs, and foams to awaken your senses to a new type of cocktail. Occupying a vaulted cellar in Marylebone the space is cosy and softly lit, the interior decked out with leather sofas, dark wood panelling and hugged by exposed brickwork.
The aim of the bar is to “bring classic cocktails back to the forefront of London’s drinking scene, whilst adding new flare and creativity to forgotten libations from the prohibition era.” With a story to each and every cocktail the menu changes often, adhering to current trends and satisfying the seasonal produce.
The private alcoves make Purl Bar a snug date night spot, normally quite quiet in the early evening during the week. We recommend this spot for couples looking for an intimate spot to unwind after work or perfect for a first date where you can get to know each other due to the speakeasy ambience. The bar also features an innovatively dramatized drinks menu so it will be hard for your date not to be wowed by the flavours and design. A signature on the list that we recommend is the ‘Mr Hyde’, the cocktail with a split personality as it is served in two stages in an ice bucket awash with dry ice, a real crowd pleaser!
